Tailored Decluttering Solutions

These decluttering services are designed to address a variety of spaces and needs, allowing you to reclaim areas of your home that may have become overwhelmed with clutter. We will begin with a personalized consultation at the beginning of our organizing session to understand your goals and challenges.  We will then work together to systematically tackle each area, whether it’s a garage filled with seasonal items or a basement that has become a catch-all for forgotten belongings or a kitchen that’s not working optimally. Bridget can help you decide what to keep, donate, or discard, ensuring that every item in your space serves a purpose. And to make it even easier, she will take a carload of donations (or trash) at the end of the session so you don’t have to drive around with it for months or have it sitting in a corner taking up space! The time is now to make a change!

Garages

Garages often become dumping grounds for tools, sports equipment, and seasonal decorations. The decluttering and organizing services allow you to transform these overwhelming spaces into organized storage solutions.
Together, we will sort through items, categorize them, and implement storage systems that maximize vertical space and accessibility. Whether it’s installing free standing shelving units or creating designated zones for different activities, we will ensure your garage becomes a functional area that meets your needs.

Basements

Basements can be tricky spaces to manage due to their tendency to accumulate clutter over time. By first decluttering, we can focus on turning your basement into a usable space that suits your lifestyle. Together we will sort through boxes, identify items for donation or disposal, and organize what remains into functional categories. Whether you envision a cozy family room, a home gym, or simply an organized storage area, we will achieve your vision.

Closets

A well-organized closet can make a world of difference in your daily routine. Together we will work to assess your clothing and accessories and help you decide what to keep based on your lifestyle and preferences. After decluttering the space and eliminating what no longer works, we can discuss organizational tools such as bins, dividers, shoe drawers that can help maximize your space and make it easy for you to find what you need. By the end of the process, you’ll have a closet that not only looks great, but also enhances your daily life.

Kitchens and Cupboards

The kitchen is often the heart of the home, but it can quickly become cluttered with gadgets and pantry items. The decluttering services include a thorough assessment of your kitchen layout and contents. Bridget will help you streamline your pantry by organizing food items by category and expiration dates, while also optimizing cupboard space for easy access to cooking essentials. With this overhaul, meal prep will become more enjoyable as you navigate an organized kitchen.

Home Offices

The home office can quickly become a dumping ground for not only paperwork, but office supplies, unfinished projects, and other items that never found a home in your home.  We will work together to eliminate the trash, shredding paperwork with personal information, and sorting what’s left into organized categories.  As with any room that’s being organized, if there are organizational tools that would help create a more functional system, Bridget is happy to provide suggestions and online links to items that would fit the space.  Your paperwork will be easier to access, and if this room is also multifunctional, we’ll make sure everything else has a home too.

Bedrooms, Bathrooms & More

Bedrooms should be a sanctuary, not somewhere clutter has claimed so you no longer feel calm in your space.  We will work together to eliminate what doesn’t belong, donate what you no longer need, put clothes in dressers or closets and find your floor so you can reclaim your space.  Bathrooms can also be a hot spot for clutter, especially if they are used by multiple family members or guests.  We can work to purge expired products, decide what can be stored away, and come up with solutions for items used on a daily basis.  No space in your home is off limits when it comes to getting your life organized.  Bridget can also help with guest rooms, playrooms, attics, and even cars.  Don’t see what you’re looking for?  Just ask!

Organizing with Existing Materials

Bridget believes in maximizing the potential of what you already own. She will help you organize basements, pantries, kitchen cupboards, desk drawers, kids’ toy storage areas, and bathroom cabinets just by using existing materials around your home. By implementing creative organizational strategies—like repurposing containers or utilizing vertical space—we will ensure each area is functional and visually appealing without the need for additional purchases. (Should you need additional storage tools, shelving, or containers, Bridget is happy to give suggestions and provide links to appropriate solutions at the end of the organizing session.)

Removal of Donations or Trash

Sometimes parting with items can be challenging. It can also be a hassle to take the items you no longer want to specific donation centers, which means they end up driving around with you in the trunk of your car for months, in an obtrusive heap in the garage, or back in rotation…. defeating the purpose of deciding they could leave in the first place! That’s why Bridget offers donation and trash removal services upon request. She can take a carload of donations (or trash) or we can work together to coordinate pickups from local charities who will assist in disposing of unwanted items responsibly. This means you don’t have to worry about how to get rid of clutter once it’s sorted. It’s handled for you!

Packing and Purging Before a Move

The packing services help streamline your moving process and ensure that you only take with you the items that truly matter. We can sort through your belongings and choose what to keep based on sentimental value or utility while ensuring unwanted items are either donated or disposed of responsibly.  Bridget has helped numerous families (and seniors moving into assisted living homes too!) over the years declutter, pack up their homes from top to bottom, and even move into the new location!  Moving doesn’t have to be stressful when you’re organized and have extra help to do it!

Space Planning

Transform your living areas into functional, welcoming spaces that cater to your specific needs. We will work together to assess your space, create a customized plan, and strategically rearrange furniture and decor to optimize flow and functionality. Whether you’re looking to create a cozy reading nook, maximize natural light, or simply refresh the layout of a room, Bridget will provide professional guidance and hands-on assistance to help you achieve a space that truly feels like home.  Need help hanging artwork, photos, or curtain rods too?  No problem! Bridget travels with a fully charged drill and toolbox to get it done during your organizing session.  Life’s too short for your house to not look like a home.

Refresh Program

So you’ve had your basement, garage, bedroom, bathroom, laundry room, and every other room organized…..now comes the hard part: keeping it that way.  The best organizational systems only work as well as the person who keeps them up!  If you find you are too busy to keep certain rooms in your home organized, Bridget is happy to come back and reorganize areas she’s already done in the past.  Sounds crazy?  It’s not.  60% of Unclutter It’s business is from repeat clients.  Mostly people who are too busy outside of the home (or inside of the home!), or just don’t have the organized brain to keep it looking tidy.  No judgement from Bridget!  She’s happy to help you keep your home in order once, twice, or 100 times.

Holiday Services

Holidays are full of fun and family!  But sometimes they can be stressful too.  Getting ready for a big gathering and need an extra set of hands?  Want your home organized from top to bottom before your whole extended family comes to stay?  Need help pulling out those holiday decorations and putting them all up?  Bridget helps with that too.  She’s put up many a Christmas tree, and taken lots of them down too.  Organizing starts before the holidays began, and can continue once the holidays are over.  Need help purging what you didn’t use?  Driving those donations to the donation center?  Packing up what you did want to keep?  Unclutter It can help with that too.  (Just remember: Bridget is a one woman team- time before holidays is limited, so call early to reserve a date!)

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is there a team of organizers at Unclutter It? Are they background checked?

Bridget is a one woman team! There are many organizing companies with multiple folks to come in at one time and help you get organized. However, many clients enjoy being able to work one on one with the same and trusted organizer. If you are feeling overwhelmed and anxious about an organizer coming into your home, it might benefit you to have one on one care. Bridget is background checked each year and can provide a long list of trusted references and/or satisfied clients upon request.

2. What are your rates?

Pricing is by the hour. Job sites within a 45 minute radius of Livonia are $100/hour. Outside of that radius, there is an additional travel fee so an hour of organizing is $125/hour. Hence, one 4 hour session will cost $400. If you’ve been putting off reclaiming a space in your home for too long, now is your chance to get it all sorted quickly today!

3. What do you do with donations I no longer want?

Bridget is happy to take a carload of donations out of your home at the end of the session. There is no hidden fee in the cost of the organizing session: haul away is included. Generally, donations are taken to the nearest Salvation Army, Goodwill, or other donation facility upon completion of the organizing session. Specific donations, such as books, can be delivered to schools or libraries upon request. Rest assured, your stuff will be put into the hands of someone who needs it now!

4. Do you need to buy any products or containers ahead of time?

No! In fact, most people who work with Bridget to get their spaces organized end up getting rid of many things and have organizing bins and containers left over! If you feel that you do need shelving solutions, bins, or containers, you can send pictures of your cluttered space to 248-885-6073 and Bridget can offer suggestions and Amazon links to things you might need to purchase ahead of time.

5. What is your process for organizing? What can I expect on the day of an organizing session?

On the day we meet to get your space organized, we will book a 4-5 hour block of time. This usually covers one large space, such as a basement, or several smaller pockets of clutter, such as multiple closets and piles of stuff on tables. We will walk through your space, make a quick plan on how best to tackle your cluttered space and get started. Throughout the process, some things will be trash, some will be donations, and some will need to find a home in your home. We will work together to create homes for your things and get rid of what no longer serves you. Bridget can also offer organizing solutions and supplies should you need them.

6. How much experience do you have helping people get organized? What's your background?

Bridget graduated from Hillsdale College in 2006 with a degree in Early Childhood Education, with a focus on Math and English. She taught for several years before starting her organizing business, Unclutter It in 2011. With 13 years of experience, she has helped 100’s of families get organized.
